Cencorp

Milestones

A 60 year journey from past to present

Approaching it’s 30th year in business, the evolution of the present day Cencorp Corporation has been long and varied. The foundations of Cencorp can be traced back to 1948, when the Finnish company, Evox Ltd was established. The company was to build upon its foundations and in 1964, produced the first automatic capacitor-manufacturing machine.

Cencorp comes of age

In 1978, Cencorp itself was founded and slowly began to expand its global operations after establishing a manufacturing base in Colorado, USA.

With increasing advances in technology, in 1986, the first assembly cell for odd-form components was manufactured. Three years later, in 1989, Markku Jokela acquired Evox’s automation business and the company was re-established as PMJ automec Corporation.

Further technological advances were to bring about the launch of the first modular production cell (HiSAC – High Speed Assembly Cell) in 1994. In the same year, Salon Hannu Seppälä, a company specializing in test handling and manufacturing test adaptors was established.

With the second HiSAC generation launched in 1995 and the third generation in 1998, one year later in 1999, PMJ automec acquired both Cencorp and Salon Hannu Seppälä.

21st Century technology

Come the new Millenium, Cencorp launched the MLT 1000 test platform in 2001, the Cencorp 1000 process platform in 2003, and in 2004, the MLT 2000 test platform. In 2005, PMJ automec took the decision to change the company name to the Cencorp Corporation. Also that year, daughter company Singulase was established. Focused on the development and sales of laser cutting solutions, it is fully owned (with 100% share value) by Cencorp. Finally, in 2006, the MLT 4 test platform was launched.
